Description

The Quad Hotel & Casino was a transitional identity on the Las Vegas Strip that bridged decades of gaming history at one of the corridor’s oldest properties. Located at 3535 South Las Vegas Boulevard, the resort had been a casino hotel since 1959, originally opening as the Flamingo Capri—a modest motor-inn built to capitalize on early Strip traffic. Over the years, the property evolved through a series of reinventions, ultimately becoming The Quad in December 2012. Before adopting the Quad name, the resort had enjoyed a long life as the Imperial Palace—a middle-market, Asian-themed casino that grew into one of the Strip’s largest hotels with thousands of rooms, auto collections, and long-running shows. Under that identity, it was a staple for value-oriented travelers and budget gamers throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Caesars Entertainment acquired the property in 2005, and by the early 2010s was envisioning a bold modernization to reposition the aging resort. In September 2012, Caesars announced that the Imperial Palace would be rebranded as The Quad Resort & Casino as part of a broader renovation project tied to the development of the LINQ Promenade, an outdoor entertainment, retail, and dining district planned along the Strip. The Quad name—inspired by the idea of a central gathering place, much like a college quadrangle—symbolized the property’s new role as a nexus between classic Strip hospitality and the emerging LINQ entertainment district. Renovations included updates to the casino floor, refreshed guest rooms, new dining options, and a modernized façade and lobby that aimed to attract a younger, experience-seeking clientele. Despite the investment and fresh branding, the Quad name was relatively short-lived. In October 2014, just two years after the rebranding, Caesars once again renamed the resort—this time to The LINQ Hotel & Casino—to better align with the adjacent LINQ Promenade and its signature attractions, including the High Roller observation wheel. Today, The LINQ continues to operate as a modern Strip resort, but the Quad era remains a distinct chapter in the property’s long evolution—a transitional moment between the Imperial Palace’s legacy and the contemporary LINQ experience that defines this corner of the Las Vegas Strip.
