Description

The Hotel Continental and Casino was on 10-acres of property on Paradise Road, Las Vegas. Construction began in 1979, and it opened in 1980. In 1996, it was sold to Crowne Ventures Inc. for $36 million, who planned a 1950s theme renovation, including a new restaurant in 1997. However, Crowne Gaming went bankrupt by the end of the year, and the Continental declared bankruptcy in February 1998. Unable to reach a lease agreement with American Realty Trust, the property closed on March 31, 1999, affecting over 300 workers. The closure was attributed to competition from larger properties on the Las Vegas Strip. Affinity Gaming now owns the site, operating the Silver Sevens hotel-casino. Plans were announced in November 2023 to renovate and rebrand it as the Continental with a planned 2025 relaunch, including a rooftop lounge and restaurant. A year later, Affinity paused plans in order to conduct further market research.
