Venue Description

The storied Casbah Hotel and Casino was built by Danny Jackson in 1963 and run by his family after his death. Ann Meyers purchased the hotel in 1976, becoming the first woman to own a hotel in Las Vegas. Unaware of its bad reputation, she renamed it Ann Meyer’s Queen of Hearts Hotel in 1990 and improved its image with better service, leading to increased business. However, issues like prostitution and violence persisted. In 2010, it was announced the hotel would be demolished to make room for a new Las Vegas City Hall building and business complex, which it remains to this day.
