The Cabaret Lounge at the Frontier Hotel and Casino was one of the intimate dining-and-entertainment rooms that helped define classic Las Vegas nightlife during the 1960s and beyond. Located inside the Frontier at 3120 South Las Vegas Boulevard, the Cabaret offered a more relaxed alternative to the resort’s main showroom, combining cocktails, dinner, conversation, and live entertainment in a smaller, more personal setting. UNLV photographs document the room in 1966–1968, showing plush lounge seating, dining tables, and a dedicated bar. Period advertising described the Cabaret Room as a place to “dine in plush surroundings,” with evening dining hours extending from roughly 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Unlike the Frontier’s headline showroom productions, the Cabaret functioned as a sophisticated supper-club environment where guests could enjoy food and drinks while entertainers performed at close range. Live entertainment was an important part of the room’s identity. Contemporary Las Vegas entertainment columns document singers appearing in the Frontier Cabaret, including Bruce Cloud, who moved there after an engagement at Caesars Palace’s Nero’s Nook in 1967. The room also attracted casino executives, entertainers, high rollers, and Strip regulars looking for a quieter place to continue the evening after showroom performances ended. One period account even described a major baccarat winner celebrating in the Frontier Cabaret and buying drinks for the house. The Cabaret also operated as a genuine dining room rather than simply a casino lounge. Former employees remembered it as a substantial restaurant operation, and one room chef recalled working in the Frontier Cabaret from 1980 through 1991, demonstrating that the venue survived well beyond its best-documented 1960s era. The Frontier itself continued operating until 2007, but the Cabaret belonged to an earlier Las Vegas tradition that gradually disappeared as enormous theaters, nightclubs, and celebrity restaurants replaced intimate casino lounges. Today, the Cabaret Lounge is remembered as a classic piece of Frontier history, a comfortable, stylish room where dinner, cocktails, live music, and Strip nightlife blended together in the distinctly personal atmosphere of vintage Las Vegas.
