Club Bingo first opened its doors on July 24, 1947, at 2535 South Las Vegas Boulevard, offering a dedicated 300-seat bingo parlor complete with an adjoining “Bonanza Room” for dining and entertainment. Owned and developed by Milton Prell and Al Winter—veteran gaming entrepreneurs—and managed by Frank Schivo, the venue quickly became a popular local hangout. It was modest in design but featured a striking electric bingo board sign that made it an unmistakable presence on the Strip. Although Prell considered expanding Club Bingo into a small hotel or adobe-style village, he soon shifted focus. In 1952, the property was sold and incorporated into the newly constructed Sahara Hotel & Casino, serving as its coffee shop. The remainder of the original Club Bingo structure was demolished, marking the end of its standalone operation. A second Club Bingo was born August 31, 1962, at 21–23 Fremont Street. Owned by Sam Diamond and Jackie Gaughan, both prominent figures in Las Vegas casino ownership, it was known as “America’s most luxurious bingo parlor” and featured amenities like free parking at the Las Vegas Club. In addition to bingo, it offered Roulette, Blackjack (21), and slot machines. In 1983, the Pioneer Club expanded and took over Club Bingo’s space. Today the property is home to an ABC Stores, and the Pioneer Club souvenir and gift shop. The legacy of Club Bingo lives on in collectibles—old matchbooks, vintage tokens, and drinking cards continue circulating among memorabilia enthusiasts—as well as in historical photographs that capture its retro neon charm. Club Bingo reflects two distinct eras in Las Vegas bingo history: from its postwar origins on the Strip to a stylish second iteration on Fremont Street. Though both versions have long since vanished, their legacy endures in collectible artifacts and vintage imagery—a nostalgic reminder of the city’s vibrant halfway-between saloon and casino culture.
